Midwives and supporters are working hard to make birth centres a reality in Ontario! Here are even more ways you can help.
If you have 5 minutes:
Send an “Ontario Needs Birth Centres” e-postcard to your MPP. Ask your friends and family to do the same.
Wear a birth centre campaign button and give them to women you know who are passionate about birth and birth centres. Buttons are available at all midwifery clinics.
Download and print an “I Vote for Birth Centres” sign for your home window and let candidates and canvassers know that you support this issue.
Talk to your friends about the importance of birth centres in Ontario and get them involved in the campaign.
Follow @OntarioMidwives on Twitter and re-tweet birth centres updates.
“Like” the Ontario Midwives Facebook page and stay up to date on the campaign. Promote the campaign to your friends online.
Add a tag line to the bottom of your e-mails promoting the birth centre campaign, such as “Ontario Needs Birth Centres” or “I Vote for Birth Centres.”
If you have 15 minutes:
If you have your own blog, write about birth centres and promote the campaign. Let staff at the Association of Ontario Midwives know about your site by sending an email to comms@aom.on.ca
Essential actions to make birth centres a reality in Ontario:
Participate in the Ontario Needs Birth Centres Lobby Day on September 15. Women, parents, midwives and supporters will be contacting their MPPs and candidates on that day to tell them that Ontario needs birth centres!
